Remembering With Love: From 9/11 Tributes to Our Own Grief Journeys

Silvia Corradin

Stepping back into this space has been quite a journey, and I am so deeply glad to be sharing these moments with all of you again. Grief has a way of completely changing the landscape of life, and some days, simply holding space for the heavy parts is all our nervous systems can manage.

Yesterday was 9/11, a day that holds so much collective sorrow. Yet, as I watched the tributes, it was incredibly heartwarming to see so many people remembering the loved ones they lost not just through their pain, but with beautiful, profound love. That is exactly how I like to remember my Nicky—focusing on the vibrant joy and the light he brought into my world.

I also know that finding those memories isn't always straightforward. When I think of my pregnancy losses, it is uniquely hard to pull from a well of happy memories because they never had the chance to live their lives here with us. But in those quiet moments, I like to think back to how incredibly happy I was when I was pregnant. That joy was real, and holding onto that feeling is a beautiful way to honor their brief, precious existence.

When a heavy wave of grief hits, our minds so often rush straight to the painful goodbyes. But there is another side to the story we share with those we've lost. Remembering the belly laughs, the shared moments, and the love doesn’t dishonor the pain—it honors the deep, enduring connection behind it. Give yourself permission to let those happy memories warm your chest, even if they bring a bittersweet tear right along with them. You are allowed to smile at what was yours.

If you’re navigating loss right now, I talk more about this heart-shift and finding the courage to remember with love in this week's full video. I gently invite you to watch, listen, and join the conversation over on YouTube.

Wishing all of you a gentle and peaceful week. 🌿✨
